ABOUT BAHA'U'LLAH (1817-1892)

Baha’u’llah was born in Persia in 1817. For much of his life, he suffered persecution & imprisonment for his religious beliefs. In 1863, he declared to his followers that he was the latest Messenger of God, a Mouthpiece of God for this age. He backed up that claim with a life and a library of teachings which, by any standard, deserve consideration. His life shows many similarities with other Messengers of God:

• Like Buddha, He was a nobleman who gave up His wealth and power to teach the Word of God
• Like Abraham, He was exiled from His native land
• Like Moses, He guided His followers to new understandings for forty years
• Like Jesus, He was tortured and imprisoned by the leaders of His time

Despite His exile and imprisonment, Baha’u’llah founded a community which, just over one hundred years after His passing, is established in more countries than Judaism or Islam and is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Many of His teachings, considered dangerous and revolutionary by the religious and political leaders of nineteenth-century Persia, are now being promoted as essential for global survival by presidents and kings
